Rev. Henry L. Peterson, Sr.
Pastor – Womack Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church
The Professional Background of Rev. Henry L. Peterson, Sr. includes work in the field of environmental engineering for over 35 years. He continues to work in the field of engineering on a consulting basis.
He has been married since 1977 to Mrs. Vanessa Dale Patton-Peterson. They have two adult children, Rev. Henry L. Peterson, Jr. and Mrs. Bethany Peterson-Gibson (who is first lady of Patton Memorial C.M.E. Church in Sandusky, OH). He is also the proud grandparent of two grandsons and one granddaughter. Grandsons are Cameron and Christian Peterson, and granddaughter, Ruby Gibson.
Ministerial Background – Rev. Peterson pastored several years in the West Tennessee Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He moved to Indianapolis in 1980 and served for two years at Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church as Assistant Pastor to the former pastor and now Bishop, Rev. Henry M. Williamson. He also served as president of the Ohio-Central Indiana Young Adults during his early years of service at the Phillips Temple congregation.
Rev. Peterson further served as pastor of Lane Chapel in Covington, KY for one and a half years. Following the appointment and service at Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church, he was appointed as pastor of Womack Memorial C.M.E. Church, where he currently serves. His leadership at Womack spans more than 30 years. In addition to leadership as pastor of Womack, Rev. Peterson, has also worked in numerous capacities on the Ohio Central Indiana Region - Annual Conference level of the 2nd Episcopal District. He has served on the Budget Committee, Ministerial Examination Committee, and currently serves as Secretary of the Ohio-Central Indiana Region Annual Conference.
As pastor at Womack Memorial C.M.E. Church, he is chief shepherd of a host of ministries, including Children and Youth Ministry Outreach and Educational Programs. Rev. Henry Peterson, Sr. demonstrates and promotes servant leadership, while challenging members in their faith walk to strive toward Kingdom Building.
